An audacious interplay of interactive narratives.
Welcome to my "imaginary homeland." A passion project straddling sameness and difference - compositeness and fragmentation. Here, armed with our own stories of conditioning and identity we can play with the concept of the ever warring duality within, defy absolutes, and explore the delicious dissonance between homogeneity and heterogeneity. The idea is to deconstruct polarities, push the boundaries in cross-cultural dialogue, thereby hopefully redefining the vernacular within, making it more pliable, more tolerant, for our madly devolving world.
A denizen of varied diasporas, I take much joy in resisting ever dominant axioms of imperial/western hegemony, eastern orthodoxies, drawing the two to consummate at the heart of inter-textual dialogue and kaleidoscopic intimacy. I urge you to do some unravelling of your own. Trace back to the origins of what birthed your identity. Deconstruct your dissonances and bravely straddle your own dualities...
Isn't this in-between land of our uncertainties, and confoundingly consummated identities best explored across our dining tables? They can be our bridges over and across troubled seas, where we break bread, and sip wine over topics spanning culture, art, travel, food, religion, politics et al.
The idea is to break out of our moulds and make honest, open-hearted, respectful exchanges - blurring the borders between us, adding more sanguine richness to that fiercely bubbling pot on the stove, mixing our narratives and reinventing possibilities in our quarantined climate. it is now, more important than ever to motivate integration. It is incumbent upon us as world citizens to resist xenophobia, fight fundamentalism, and discourage that 'dumbing down' of cultures via lock-down mentality.
Do allow this little country here, this shape shifting "ground beneath my feet", to be your magic thought carpet too. Let this be a 'mise en scène' of the many theatrical productions that compose the uniqueness in each one of us. I welcome you aboard with delight and gratitude. Feel free to read, critique, respond, and or submit your own stories and thoughts. Namaste -Anshula
